BJJ COMPETITION TRAINING

Christina has over 12 years of experience competing in local, national, and international BJJ tournaments and has faced world champion black belts and UFC fighters over her years in competition.  Christina also ran local tournaments in Manitoba for over 10 years.

There is no requirement that students compete in BJJ, but it is highly encouraged as a way to test your skills and challenge yourself both mentally and physically. In local tournaments, there are divisions for any age, skill level, and weight class, both in the Gi and Nogi divisions.  For teammates who aren't interested in competing, there is always a role on the Brazil 021 Winnipeg competition team for them to assist with. Christina runs friendly kids competitions at the Dojo for kids who have never competed before to boost their confidence before registering for a tournament.

The BJJ Competition training at Brazil-021 Winnipeg is structured to build a well-rounded game plan and strengthen competitors’ skills in all basic positions. Once the jiu-jitsu fundamentals are well-established the focus is on refining the skills and techniques that competitors use most frequently and developing confidence in the game plan to ensure success. Specific positional and situational drills that represent competition scenarios are included in tournament preparation. Competition training also includes conditioning and high-volume reps of commonly used techniques and high percentage submissions.
