Christina Barry, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Black belt Professor / Self-defense Specialist

Professor Christina was awarded her black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) in 2012 and obtained her first degree on her black belt in 2016. She is the founder and head professor of Brazil021 Winnipeg School of Jiu-jitsu and is a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt under the International Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Federation (IBJJF) under 2nd degree black belt Professor Misty Shearer out of Edmonton, who is under 4th degree black belt and 9x world champion Professor Hannette Staack and Andre Terenico out of Brazil021 Headquarters, Chicago.

She was an active competitor in BJJ for over a decade and won two bronze medals at The World Masters Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Championships in 2017, in her weight class and in the absolute division.  She enjoys sharing her competition experiences as a coach with her students.  She has a true passion for teaching and helping her students grow and develop, in jiu-jitsu and in life. She has also organized and run local BJJ tournaments for over a decade.

Christina also specializes in teaching women’s self-defense because of the importance that BJJ has in helping women to gain confidence and empowerment. She has experience working with various community organizations and has helped women who have been victims of domestic violence re-establish confidence and self-esteem.

Cal received his black belt June 17, 2023 and is a jiu-jitsu encyclopedia when it comes to jiu-jitsu technique and self-defense. When students have a question Cal always has an answer.

Jason received his brown belt June 17, 2023. He is a self-defense specialist and is a CanFitPro certified fitness trainer, which complements his martial arts training.

Rich received his purple belt June 17, 2023 and is a highly energetic and enthusiastic instructor who is dedicated to helping students improve their jiu-jitsu skills.

Instructor Quinton Sawatsky

Quinton has been training jiu-jitsu for nearly 12 years. He is a blue belt with past competition experience with his favorite submissions being kimura and guillotine. He teaches the kids classes and is also very helpful when new students come learn jiu-jitsu in the teen/adult fundamentals class.

Warren has been training jiu-jitsu for over 3 years and is a blue belt with a ton of recent Gi and Nogi competition experience both in Canada and the US. He teaches the kids classes and is also very helpful when new students come learn jiu-jitsu in the teen/adult fundamentals class.
